Detroit Plastic Surgery - Breast Reconstruction

Detroit breast reconstruction - Just under 200,000 women would be diagnosed in 2009 with breast cancer in the United States, according to an estimate from the American Cancer Society. They also predicted that close to 40,000 would die of the condition. Faced with such a deadly foe, doctors often must remove the offending body part completely, or face the spread of the disease. Women undergoing a mastectomy, however, are presented with a host of potential physical and emotional woes over and above the cancer. The breast may seem like a mere decoration from certain perspectives, but can play a central role in a woman's sense of self and femininity. Such a loss is no light matter.

It is the essence of understatement to call the decision to have breast reconstruction simply personal. A reconstructed breast will never look or feel exactly like the original breast, and the potential complications are not to be taken lightly. The restoration of a breast can make a significant positive impact on the patient's quality of life, however, and a study released in 2008 by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons found that 98% of women would choose breast reconstruction again. Detroit plastic surgeon, Dr. Bazzi, is a board certified plastic surgeon providing breast surgery and a full range of cosmetic procedures.

Male Plastic Surgery - Breast Reduction in Beverly Hills

Los Angeles breast reduction is not just about solving back and neck pain for disproportionate women. While it's Male Plastic Surgery true that doctors like Los Angeles plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum, do offer these women relief from some of the ill effects of being a bit too voluptuous, there is also breast reduction for men to consider.

Gynecomastia, defined by Mirriam-Webster Online as "excessive development of the breast in the male," is actually quite normal. Statistically, in fact, a man has a better chance of developing gynecomastia than not. Frequently it resolves itself, but even "man-boobs" that don't need not be permanent. Just as Dr. Teitelbaum helps women with excessively large breasts, there is treatment to be had for gynecomastia. Male plastic surgery isn't limited to moobs, either. While you see Dr. Teitelbaum as your gynecomastia surgeon, there are other procedures from which you might benefit as well.

Self Improvement Through La Jolla, CA, Cosmetic Surgery

Self improvement comes in various forms, from selecting a sensible salad and eschewing the slab-o-steak to powering down the PlayStation and cracking open the Catcher in the Rye. Making time for exercise can improve your health, but more to the point, improved health improves the way you feel generally. That may be why we seek to improve ourselves; it does make us feel better. There are some things we just can't change on our own, though. Some fat deposits, for example, simply refuse to leave their chosen perch no matter how well you eat or exercise. Even after you've evicted the fat, excess skin can remain. That's where help from La Jolla cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Robert Kearney, comes in. Dr. Kearney's San Diego liposuction patients are separated surgically from those tenacious fat deposits, and abdominoplasty can be an excellent way to flatten a tummy that won't respond to diet and exercise.

Cohesive Gel Breast Implants in Santa Monica, California

Santa Monica Cohesive Implant - Silicone gel already has a certain popularity as a breast implant filler. Although silicone gel implants are pre-filled Santa Monica Breast Enlargement and so may require a larger incision than a saline implant for a comparable enhancement, its consistency gives it a more natural feel than saline. Concerns raised in the early '90s about potential health risks supposedly linked to silicone have effectively been put to rest, and the FDA restored their approval to silicone implants in 2006. Now, the next generation of silicone gel implants are in clinical trials.

These "Gummy Bear" implants are already widely popular in Europe. More form stable than either saline implants or conventional silicone implants, they lend themselves well to a more tapered shape, better resembling a natural breast contour. The nature of the silicone also renders them relatively leak-free.

The natural-feeling (and natural-looking) results these implants promise are only available in the United States through certain surgeons. Santa Monica plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Teitelbaum is one such surgeon, and "the only surgeon in the state of California who was asked to participate in the clinical trials of all three cohesive implant manufacturers."

Flatten the Middle - Tummy Tuck in Carson City, Nevada

Tummy Tuck in Carson City - If you've been considering the Breast Lift with Implants Lake Tahoe notion of seeing a plastic surgeon, you probably already have a "problem area" or two in mind that you want addressed. Perhaps you've finally shed those "extra" pounds and just can't bring yourself to celebrate because, thanks to a loss of elasticity over time, the skin around your middle felt it would be more fun to act like a deflated balloon.

A loss of skin elasticity is normal as we age, and so skin is less willing to shrink down once it's been stretched. A tummy tuck is one possible option for addressing this. By excising the loose, over-hanging skin and tightening the abdominal wall muscles, a plastic surgeon can make your efforts a bit easier to show off. Much depends on your current physiology and future plans. These types of details are why the consultation with your surgeon is so important.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kent Gabriel offers consultations that are, as he describes them, "lengthy and informative." By intentionally taking "as much time as a patient needs to discuss their situation," Dr. Gabriel hopes that, whether a patient goes forward with their surgery with him or not, they will leave the consult with better understanding.

Body Contouring Surgery Like Lipoplasty And Abdominoplasty Are Performed To Create A Better Contour

A liposuction procedure is used to remove localized areas of fat that surround the buttocks, hips, thighs, abdomen, upper arms, neck, calves, and knees. Patients who receive liposuction surgery are typically looking to improve the contours of their figure - both out of and in clothing. The plastic surgery procedure itself is performed with a thin metal tube called a cannula. This tube is inserted underneath the patient's skin and is used to vacuum fat away from specific irregular contours on one's body.

Consideration for Breast Implants in Philadelphia, PA

Breast enlargement has more uses than its Breast Implants Philadelphia PA reputation may allow. True, in simplest terms, implants only add volume. The reasons behind adding volume, however, vary along with the women being enlarged. Along with making small breasts bigger, implants can be used to correct imbalance between different-sized breasts, restore volume lost to time and other forces, and even to rebuild breasts lost to cancer.

A woman with small breasts can face something of a double standard if she is told that breast augmentation is vanity, all while the society around her praises full breasts. When we put so much value on a woman's shape, how can we blame her for wanting to improve it? Dr. Louis P. Bucky uses breast implants in Philadelphia and Ardmore for all the reasons listed above, including to help women who are unhappy with their shape.

Breast Implants - Michigan

Michigan Breast Augmentation - Whenever I think back to the silicone gel-filled breast implant Breast Implants Michigan scare of the early nineties, it reminds me of a cartoon showing a woman with a tiny chest and bare-but-bell-bottomed legs glaring at a scientist, implying that the filler from her implants had not only leaked but filtered down through her body to slosh around her ankles. Of course, silicone gel is more likely to remain in the shell or the implant pocket. In fact it may be difficult even to detect a leak in a silicone implant without an ultrasound or MRI scan.

A lot has been learned over the almost two decades since the FDA withdrew its approval of silicone breast implants (which approval was restored in 2006; silicone breast implants are currently available for augmentation in women 22 years and older). So many of the facts about breast implants are only applicable on a personal basis, based on the physiology of the individual patient, which makes your doctor consultation so important. Dr. Bazzi is a board certified Michigan plastic surgeon who can provide you the personalized information you need.

Breast Reduction Surgery in Los Angeles, CA

Not all Los Angeles breast reduction surgery is performed on women. More men will develop gynecomastia than won't, and for a multitude of reasons. Beverly Hills Gynecomastia At its root, gynecomastia is just an abnormal enlargement of one or both of the breast areas on a man's chest. Of course, while "man boobs" aren't especially detrimental to physical health, they can be a source of embarrassment that men thus afflicted may be loathe to discuss even with a physician. Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum, saw the need to provide men with an informative, private way to learn more about their options for dealing with gynecomastia, and part of his efforts to meet that need comes in the form of a web site devoted expressly to gynecomastia treatment.

Considering Liposuction Surgery in Pasadena, California

Liposuction Glendale - The first decade of the 21st century has seen an impressive jump in the number of cosmetic procedures Glendale Plastic Surgeon performed in the United States. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there were over 10 million surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed in the U.S. in 2008, compared to just over 2 million in 1997. Does this mean that these procedures have become routine, like pulling through the drive-up window at your kids' favorite fast food establishment?

Hardly. Where surgery is concerned, no matter how common the procedure, there is always the unique aspect of the patient. An experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Allan Perry, who practices plastic surgery in Pasadena and received his board certification in 1994, can help you avoid the pitfalls that apply specifically to you.

Following Lipoplasty, Most Patients Have Very Little Pain

Prior to your liposuction procedure, your cosmetic surgeon will carefully outline the areas of bulging fat that are to be suctioned. He or she will then draw detailed contour lines in order to further define the contour and shape characteristics of the deposits of fat. Cosmetic surgeons will use the "tumescent technique" in which there will be a large amount of fluid initially placed to swell the area. This technique will allow for fat to be removed in a very smooth, safe, and symmetrical manner. The fluid is able to help loosen the fat while providing a local anesthesia for operative and immediate post-operative discomfort. It will also be able to provide epinephrine which is capable of decreasing bleeding.

Breast Implant Recovery

Dallas Breast Implants - What should you expect following your breast Dallas Breast Implants enhancement surgery? Some things will differ from one doctor to another. It is probably safe to say that your doctor will recommend against any heavy lifting for a while, and since smoking can cause problems like excess bleeding, that's probably out as well. One difference is recuperation time. Some doctors say several days. Dr. William P. Adams, who performs breast enlargement in Dallas, states the return time for "baseline activities of daily living" as about 24 hours with the use of "several specialized maneuvers to minimize post-operative pain." A one-on-one consultation with your cosmetic surgeon is the perfect time to get all the information you can about breast surgery, including more details about what your post-operative expectations should be.

A Plastic Surgeon Can Tighten Any Area Of Your Body With Body Contouring Procedures

A body lift procedure is very similar to a face lift. The only difference with it is that it involves the center of the body. A body lift, specifically is the surgical contouring of the abdomen, thighs, arms, and breasts in order to remove hanging, excess skin. The cosmetic surgery procedure itself is designed for people that have lost a large amount of weight either through gastric bypass surgery or through exercise and dieting. A significant loss of weight will often leave people with excessive, saggy, and unsightly skin that does not conform to their new, thinner figures. Another type of person who is a candidate for a body lift may be those who have sagging, excessive skin as a result of pregnancy or the normal aging process. As people age, their skin stops producing collagen, proteins, and elastin that are needed to keep skin toned and tight.

Body Lift Surgery Can Be Performed On The Arms, Thighs, Abdomen, Buttocks, And Breasts

Whether your sagging, stretched, or loose skin is because of pregnancy, aging, or loss of weight, a body lift is able to help you get the contours of your body back to normal. The surgery will also be able to provide you with tighter, smoother, younger looking skin. Plastic surgeons are capable of performing full body lifts or surgery specific to the following areas: arms, abdomen, buttocks, breasts, and thighs. An important thing to note is that many cosmetic surgeons tailor each body lift to meet the health and aesthetic needs and goals of their patients. If you require further information about a body lift procedure, you should set up a consultation with a plastic surgeon.

Your Plastic Surgeon Will Explain The Risks Associated With The Surgery Prior To Your Abdominoplasty

A tummy tuck, technically referred to as an abdominoplasty, is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures available. A tummy tuck is capable of removing excess fat and skin and may also tighten the abdominal muscles to create a tight, smooth, better contoured waistline. In most cases it can also restore separated or weakened muscles. A good candidate for a tummy tuck will have excess or loose skin due to pregnancy, weight loss, or loss of skin elasticity from aging or stretch marks. The surgery is often combined with liposuction to the love handle areas to provide a better contour to the entire waistline. Also, it is commonly performed along with a breast augmentation procedure and liposuction. This set of procedures is often referred to as the "Mommy Makeover." Your decision to have an abdominoplasty performed is extremely personal and you will have to decide if the benefits of surgery will achieve your goals and if the potential complications and risks are acceptable.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation Surgery Cost?

I know a fellow with an off-kilter sense of humor and a garage where he repairs and restores old cars. He is fond of responding to the question, "How much will this cost?" with, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it." His face isn't quite serious when he says it, Los Angeles Breast Enhancement but there's truth in his words. Some things can be bought based on price. Some can't. Car repairs that get lumped into that price-conscious group can put the driver and passenger alike in peril. Cost still has to be considered, but the quality of the workmanship must take precedence.

The same can be said of surgery. A surgical procedure can't simply be thrown out and replaced if it fails to meet expectations as you might do with most consumer products. A patient considering breast enhancement, for example, might save money on the procedure by foregoing silicone breast implants and getting saline implants, but the regret of making such a choice lasts far longer than the pleasure of saving a little money. The best approach is to be honest with yourself, know your goals and your doctor, and make sure your doctor is completely honest and candid with you.

Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Steven Teitelbaum of Los Angeles is a specialist in breast augmentation among other types of cosmetic surgery. Doctor Teitelbaum makes sure that his Los Angeles breast enhancement patients are well informed of both the risks and rewards they may face.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Is Usually Performed At An Office Or Hospital

A tummy tuck procedure is typically performed at an office or hospital with a general anesthesia. You will most likely be given some medication before the plastic surgery procedure so that you are relaxed. The entire procedure may take between two and five hours. The amount depending of course on the patient's overall condition. There is a possibility that you will be released after a few hours, but you may require a few days in the hospital.

An Abdominoplasty Procedure Is Offered By Cosmetic Surgeons To Enhance A Person's Abdomen

Your plastic surgeon will take a complete medical history and will also conduct a careful examination in order to evaluate your general and overall health. Ideally, the tummy tuck patient will have no health problems, and will wish only to remove any excess deposit of loose abdominal skin or fat. Any person who is on a weight-loss plan should be close to their target weight that they have set before they have the surgery performed. Women who are planning any future pregnancies should delay receiving a tummy tuck, as pregnancy stretch the abdomen again.

Tulsa Tummy Tuck Surgery - OK

Even plastic surgeons will say that diet and exercise are the best way to shed excess weight, but there are cruel surprises that can lie in "weight" to spoil success. Fat cells can behave as though driven by a malevolent Tummy Tuck Tulsa Oklahoma desire to only release those parts of the body where you wouldn't actually mind keeping them, while clinging stubbornly to those spots where you really want them gone. Liposuction utilizes a tube inserted at strategic locations to evict those entrenched fat cells , and is an effective way to fine-tune your silhouette in those trouble spots. Unfortunately, just because the fat's gone doesn't mean the skin will shrink together to hug your now-trimmer frame. This is where abdominoplasty (the tummy tuck) comes in, either as a stand-alone or together with other procedures like liposuction.

The scar from a traditional tummy tuck reaches from hip to hip, but allows the surgeon to tighten the abdominal wall. By contrast a mini tummy tuck can be performed with a much smaller incision and is sometimes referred to as the "scarless tummy tuck," though it also means a more limited portion of the abdominal wall can be tightened. Surgery carries risk, and a critical part of preparing is a consultation with your surgeon. Schedule a consultation for your tummy tuck in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Dr. Robert Mitchell.

After a liposuction procedure, the patient will go home with a compression garment that covers the treated areas. Compression of the areas where liposuction has been performed is recommended for about a month since it will help reduce swelling after the procedure. After the pain and soreness have decreases, it will be more comfortable to wear lycra or spandex exercise pants. Initial discomfort from the liposuction surgery will be easily controlled through the use of oral medication. Swelling and bruising will typically subside in two to four weeks with final results taking shape over two to three months.

Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction Performed By A Plastic Surgeon Allows For A Safer Removal Of Fat

The use of UAL by plastic surgeons allows for a safer removal of larger amounts of fat than that of a standard liposuction procedure. This increase in safety is accredited to the smaller amount of blood that needs to be removed with UAL. This means that UAL procedures can be very useful to someone who is moderately overweight even though it is not a weight loss procedure. Ultrasound assisted liposuction was created to improve the proportions and contour of the treated areas, resulting in a more flattering figure or physique.

Of course you can take proactive steps; eat right, get the right amount of sleep and exercise, Breast Lift Utahbrush, floss, use sunscreen. In the end, though, skin loses elasticity over time, and it doesn't help women whose lot it is to watch their chest reach for the ground that breast feeding can cause their breast volume to diminish.

Breast Lift Utah - Breast lift surgery is meant to reduce or eliminate what doctors call ptosis (and the rest of us call sagging). Breast Implants in Dallas, TX

Breast Augmentation Dallas - One of the most important parts of breast augmentation surgery is that no two people are exactly the same. Because of that, each patient must be evaluated in a way that individualizes the plan and procedure for her and for her body. You want your surgeon to be one who analyzes every patient in this way; individually.

The key, says Dallas breast surgeon, Dr. William Adams, "is to match the correct implant to each patient's breast dimensions and soft tissues." The point, he says, is to keep complication and re-operation rates low, and to deliver positive, long-term results. There are various different goals that can be reached through breast augmentation surgery, and it is also wise to honestly and candidly share yours with your doctor.

Utah Breast Revision

Breast Revision - Utah - Breast implants can revive breast volume lost to time and gravity, create a bust line never granted by nature, Breast Enlargement Utahcorrect asymmetry, and even rebuild breasts lost to cancer. Surgical procedures involve risks, however, and though complications are rare for breast surgery, they can happen. A previous breast augmentation that creates a cosmetic problem or poses a health risk means removal or replacement of the implant. Some of the more common complications to breast enlargement are capsular contracture, nipple sensitivity (or the loss thereof), rippling, and rupture.

Complications are not the only reason for revision surgery, of course. Most implants are only designed to last 10 years, so revision surgery becomes a given. Many women find, too, that they simply wish they had gotten larger implants. For more information about Utah plastic surgery, see Dr. Joseph Berg.

A woman who has lost some of her figure to the effects of time, gravity, childbirth, et cetera, can also feel a negative impact on her quality of life. Breast augmentation surgery can improve her appearance just as oral surgery can fix a smile.

L.A. Male Breast Reduction

English is a funny language. We talk about things that aren't there. How often, after all, do you call something a "horsed carriage," or a "strapped gown"? Of course it's all about setting a thing apart from what people might think of if you just said "carriage" or "gown."

Mention Los Angeles breast reduction surgery to someone and I expect they'll think of women suffering from back, neck, and shoulder pain. It's a legitimate response, but not the only correct one. Dr. Steven Teitelbaum, well known and respected Los Angeles plastic surgeon, saw enough of a need to make information available about male breast reduction that he launched BeverlyHillsGynecomastia.com. As Dr. Teitelbaum points out, more men will develop gynecomastia than will not, but that doesn’t make it any less concerning for those who suffer from it. His site gives men a convenient, private way to learn more about what can be done about gynecomastia.

Liposuction Is For You If You Have Fatty Areas That Don't Respond To Exercise Or Diet

Liposuction may be a great option for you if you have fatty areas that do not respond to diet or exercise. Liposuction isn't a weight-loss or cellulite treatment procedure and people that are in good shape, yet struggle with "problem" areas are the best candidates. The procedure slims and contours different areas of the body by removing the excess fat. Liposuction does not treat loose or sagging skin. In some cases, liposuction is performed alone, in other cases it is used with procedures such as a breast reduction/lift or a tummy tuck, which can reduce sagging skin. According to Tacoma plastic surgeon, Dr. Nichols, when combined with other procedures, liposuction can be one of the procedures in a Mommy Makeover.

Cosmetic Surgeons Will Perform A Mini Tummy Tuck On Those Who Have Subtle Excess Skin And Fat

Los Angeles plastic surgeons perform mini tummy tuck procedures on patients who demonstrate subtle excess skin and fat in their lower abdominal regions. The procedure can also be performed to get rid of previous surgical scars. The scars are often much smaller than the traditional abdominoplasty or tummy tuck scar, and are well concealed within the bikini line. Additionally, the abdominal muscles can be tightened to improve the lower abdominal bulge. Only a small percentage of patients are good candidates for the mini tummy tuck procedure.

Considering Abdominoplasty in Lindon, Utah

Abdominoplasty in Utah - A tummy tuck operation involves making an incision that falls along the natural skin creases of the lower abdomen, usually correlating with the bikini line. The skin is then lifted away from the abdomen, creating a flap. Depending on the patient's unique situation, the navel may be repositioned, fat may be liposuctioned away, and excess skin is excised, or cut away. Scarring is minimized as much as possible by the incision's being located in a natural crease, and by the application of vitamins and adhesives, but a scar is to be expected whenever there is an incision.

Utah cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Kimball Crofts, also reminds patients that planned future pregnancies and certain medical conditions can make the procedure unsafe. The best way to know for sure if you are a good candidate for this procedure is in a personal consultation with your plastic surgeon.

For Many People Who Have Lost A Large Amount Of Weight, There's No Diet Or Exercise That Can Restore Their Former Body

The majority of candidates for brachioplasty are those who have lost massive weight following Bariatric Surgery, also known as "stomach stapling" or "lap banding." According to the website of an Atlanta plastic surgeon, even though these patients will be able to reap many psychological and health related benefits from this weight loss surgery, one of the after effects is sagging skin that hangs down from areas of the body such as the arms. Because this skin has lost most of its elasticity following many years of obesity, there is no amount of exercise or diet that is capable of restoring former tone and firmness to the body.

Beverly Hills Gynecomastia Information

Men and women both suffer dissatisfaction with their bodies. This is true even for breasts. Women may feel their breasts are too small or too large, whereas if breasts appear at all on a man, they're too large. The term used by doctors for these 'man-boobs' is gynecomastia. Unlike women, however, who talk to each other about breast surgery, men just don't discuss how to lose man boobs. Talking about your man-boobs, even with friends, much less a doctor, is an embarrassment.

To assist men with learning about and considering treatment options for gynecomastia, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum of Santa Monica, California, launched BeverlyHillsGynecomastia.com. The anonymity the internet provides makes this informative site a good way for a man to research his situation and his options in peace, without subjecting himself to embarrassing scrutiny.

Breast Enlargement in Beverly Hills

It can be a challenge not feeling self-conscious about your appearance. Even a visit to the grocery store, with its accompanying exposure to the magazine rack, can trigger a wave of inadequacy. Plastic surgery in Los Angeles is an option for bridging the gap between your goals and what you can do on your own. Of course, diet and exercise are crucial to looking your very best, but no eschewing of junk food or time spent on the treadmill will give a woman the lifted contours or the increased breast volume that a plastic surgeon can. Abdominoplasty - Tummy Tuck in Los Angeles, CA

Everyone wants a flat stomach. That's what's sexy, after all, right? There are a lot of tummy-flattening methods out there. What method will work for you? Diet? Exercise? Should you consider surgery, like abdominoplasty or liposuction? What's the difference between a tummy tuck and a mini tummy tuck? You can learn a lot about the mechanics of surgery on the internet, but if you really want to know how abdominoplasty would work for you, you need to talk about abdominoplasty with a board certified surgeon.

In some cases, surgery is needed to exorcise the fat that won't obey exercise. Liposuction is an effective way to remove fat cells, but that may not be sufficient, either. "After considerable weight loss or childbearing, the abdominal muscles are inexorably stretched. Once this occurs, tightening the muscle layer is frequently the only way to obtain a flat smooth abdomen," says Dr. Francis Palmer, who performs abdominoplasty in Los Angeles.

During the procedure you are completely awake, allowing you to lie down and stand up. Everyone is aware that their body appears differently when they are standing vs. lying, and by having you stand your surgeon can more accurately sculpt your body's proportions. Pre-operative valium will help minimize any anxiety and discomfort you may feel. A special tumescent solution will be injected. This will numb the area as well as put fluid around the fat cells so they are more easily removed.

Male Breast Reduction Restores a Feeling of Masculinity

Like starting to shave, the lowering of one’s voice, or developing an Adam’s Apple, a flat and strong looking chest is seen as a sign of masculinity. It is humiliating to have a chest that looks even the slightest bit feminine. Many women seek breast augmentation because they say, “I look like a boy and just want to feel feminine.” And though men never make the opposite statement – probably because the words are too hard to say – it is probably in the back of their minds. As shy as some flat-chested women are about men seeing their chest naked, they tend not to have the same level of shame or humiliation as do men with gynecomastia. It is very common that even men with the mildest forms of gynecomastia never want to take their shirt off, wear loose clothes over a tight undershirt, and spend time in front of a mirror pushing their chest back to make it look flatter.

The Best Candidate For A Tummy Tuck

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are men or women who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that won't respond to diet or exercise. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved.
Patients who intend to lose a lot of weight should postpone the tummy tuck surgery. Also, women who plan future pregnancies should wait, as vertical muscles in the abdomen that are tightened during surgery can separate again during pregnancy.

Liposuction is One of Today's Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

One of the most popular procedures today, liposuction is designed to eliminate fatty deposits in various areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks or neck. This is not a weight loss procedure but rather a sculpting of areas that are refractory to dieting and exercise. During the tumescent liposuction procedure, fluid is injected into the tissue to improve the efficiency of fat removal and to decrease the blood loss. Then, a cannula connected to a vacuum pump is inserted through a small 1/4” incision in a normal skin fold, and the area is suctioned. Today, advanced techniques using ultrasonic and power assisted cannulas have enhanced results. This body contouring procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and the patient can resume normal activities within a week's time, but must refrain from exercising and sports for three weeks postoperatively.

Male Breast Reduction Can Save A Male From Emotional Devastation

Gynecomastia can be emotionally devastating. A man or boy with gynecomastia struggles with anxiety over such simple acts as taking off his shirt at the beach. For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, breast-reduction surgery can help. Male breast reduction removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured.

The First Step in Receiving a Tummy Tuck

The first consultation allows you to meet with your plastic surgeon and staff to discuss your needs and concerns. You will learn about your surgery, the risks and complications, recovery time and look at before and after pictures. Your discussion with him or her covers all aspects of the surgery and you will discuss with him or her your expectations of the surgery. Your plastic surgeon will be able to examine your body and talk about the procedures necessary to meet your expectations.
During the consultation, you will be asked about the results you would like to achieve from abdominoplasty. This will help your surgeon to understand your expectations and determine whether they realistically can be achieved. He or she will individualize your treatment plan with you and discuss with you what type of abdominoplasty will give you your best results (ie. mini-abdominoplasty vs. full abdominoplasty vs. extended abdominoplasty).
You will have before pictures taken, which allows the physician to plan your surgery and also allows computer imaging to be done and viewed at a later date. After meeting with your surgeon you will have the opportunity to meet with the nurse and review pre-operative and post-operative care necessary for the surgery. You plastic surgeon's assistant will discuss fees and schedule your surgery at a time convenient to both schedules.

A Thigh Lift is the Answer if You Want to Firm and Tighten Your Thighs

The thighs tend to be an area of the body that is often overlooked but one that can greatly benefit from plastic surgery. The thighs can be affected by both redundant skin and an over-accumulation of fatty deposits. There are many reasons why the thighs undergo these changes. The thighs are one area of the body that is particularly prone to fat build-up and deterioration in skin quality. During the aging process, the skin loses elasticity, retaining ligaments stretch and gravity takes its toll. Thigh skin is especially prone to these changes as it is naturally thinner than skin found elsewhere in the body. Weight gain also plays a roll in this process as the added skin tension further stretches and thins the skin. The problem can become quite noticeable with significant weight loss. Sun exposure and cigarette smoking can also be major contributors to the problem. Cosmetic surgery can offer a real opportunity to correct these issues and achieve a firmer, more youthful look. A thigh lift, liposuction or both, may be just the answer.

The Difference Between a Full and Mini-Tummy Tuck

During abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon makes an incision that extends from hip to hip along the lower pubic area. A skilled plastic surgeon makes this incision so that the resulting scar is hidden under a bathing suit or by undergarments. The plastic surgeon then lifts the loose skin off of the abdominal wall, and tightens and repairs the loosened "rectus" muscles – the muscles that normally give the abdomen its strength – achieving the effect that an old-fashioned girdle would.
During Mini-Abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon makes an incision that generally spans only the width of the pubic area, and that is similar to a C-section incision. In both procedures, patients with excessive fat in the hips and flanks may have liposuction in these areas to contour them, but not in the areas of the abdomen that are being stretched because this could cause damage to the blood circulation in those areas, leading to scarring or even skin loss. The result of a tummy tuck is an abdomen that is tight and flat, a waist that is narrow and curvy and thighs and buttocks that are firmer.

Arm Lift Surgery is Becoming Increasingly Popular

Brachioplasty, also known as arm lift or arm tuck, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to remove redundant, flabby, and sagging skin folds of the upper arms. Hanging arm skin folds are not only unsightly, but also interfere with one’s ability to fit in sleeved tops, as well as causing underarm skin rash and irritation.
Brachioplasty can now offer patients the freedom of a lifestyle that they couldn't enjoy previously. In fact, the popularity of arm lift surgery has soared to a point that according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of Brachioplasty surgeries has tripled since 1997, with nearly 15,000 procedures being performed in 2005. Arm lift surgery is not exclusive to women. Actually, many men also undergo brachioplasty.

Brachioplasty Tightens The Skin on Your Arms

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove loose skin and excess fat deposits in the upper arm. With age, upper arm skin can become loose and flabby. Plastic surgeons will discuss brachioplasty with patients who want to tighten this skin and look as good as they feel. In some cases your plastic surgeon may suggest that liposuction be used alone or in conjunction with an arm lift to remove excess fat in the upper arms.

Male Breast Reduction Gets Rid of Embarrassment

Gynecomastia can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation and takes between 1 and 2 hours. Male breast reduction is a plastic surgery procedure where the reduction of breast volume can many times be accomplished with ultrasound assisted liposuction. In some cases, a small incision may need to be made in order to remove tissue directly. In rare cases, skin may be removed from around the areola.
Initial recovery time for gynecomastia is from 7 to 10 days. The complete recovery time is from 4 to 6 weeks. This means no heavy exercise such as lifting weights, vigorous workouts at the gym, or any other strenuous activity. It may take at least 6 months to a year for the final results.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Gets Rid of Your Protruding Belly

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, removes loose hanging abdominal skin and tightens weakened abdominal wall muscles. Because even diligent diet and exercise cannot fix these problems, each year more than 80,000 American women and men undergo tummy tuck surgery. Women and men who have a protruding belly, loose hanging abdominal skin and weak abdominal muscles are candidates for a full tummy tuck.
Mini-abdominoplasty, also known as a mini-tummy tuck, is reserved for those who have only a limited amount of loose skin or stretch marks in the lower abdomen, or above the public bone. Also, Mini tummy tuck does not usually involve the tightening of abdominal muscles. Therefore, it is sometimes combined with liposuction for patients with excessive fat, but limited looseness of the abdomen.

Liposuction Sculpts Your Body

Liposuction is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. During the past decade, liposuction, which is also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy," has benefited from several new refinements. Today, a number of new techniques, including ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), the tumescent technique, and the super-wet technique, are helping many plastic surgeons to provide selected patients with more precise results and quicker recovery times. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that don't respond to traditional weight-loss methods.
If you're considering liposuction, the information below will give you a basic understanding of the procedure - when it can help, how it is performed and how you might look and feel after surgery. It won't answer all of your questions, since much depends on your individual circumstances. Please ask your plastic surgeon if there is anything about the procedure you don't understand.

Enhance the Appearance of your Calves

Calf augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to enhance the appearance of the calves, enlarge them, and to make them more proportional in size and shape to the rest of the lower extremity and body. In this procedure calf implants of a variety of shapes, sizes, and contours, are inserted over the existing calf muscles - Gastrocnemius and Soleus Muscles - to achieve fuller and shapelier calves.
Most people want their calves to look natural, full, and curvaceous. In many men, the overwhelming emphasis is to augment the size and bulk of the calves in order to make them look as if you have worked out.

Remove Localized Fat Deposits with Liposuction

Liposuction can remove localized fat deposits from almost any area of the body. Many plastic surgeons use an "ultrasonic" technique, during which sound waves liquefy fat cells before liposuction begins. This allows the elimination of more tissue, especially in difficult to treat areas such as "love handles" and the upper abdomen. Ultrasound breaks up fibrous tissue in the fat, and gives smoother results than with other types of liposuction.
By injecting saline, anesthetic solution and epinephrine during liposuction ("tumescent" liposuction), bruising is minimized. Incisions for liposuction are small and easily hidden.

A Tummy Tuck may be the Answer to Your Problems

A tummy tuck is performed by first carefully marking the patient while they are standing. Careful pre-operative marking is essential to guiding the surgery to success. The procedure begins just above the pubis, by lifting the skin off the muscle from the pubic bone up to the bottom of the ribs. This releases the skin to allow the lower abdominal excess to be removed and the upper abdominal skin to be stretched downward to fill in the space from where the skin is removed. It also allows the surgeon to easily visualize the stretched out, thinned or separated muscles and to tighten them. Although the procedure does require an incision, many plastic surgeons' experience and intimate understanding of the patient’s anatomy and body contours will allow the scar to be well hidden in a bikini bathing suit or even skimpy underwear. Like all procedures, Abdominoplasty does carry risks, including the risk of infection, bleeding and the risk from anesthetics. It is important to note that under the care of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, great care will be taken to avoid or minimize these risks.

Remove Redundant, Flabby, and Sagging Skin Folds of the Upper Arms

Arm lift (also known as brachioplasty) is a procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arm. The goal of the surgery is to obtain a more toned, defined arm.
Liposuction may be used in conjunction with brachioplasty to further enhance results. Incisions are usually made on the inside of the arm in an inconspicuous area. Depending on the extent of the surgery, some arm lift procedures can be accomplished by making a small incision in the armpit area. Most people can return to work one to two weeks following arm lift surgery with minimal restrictions.

Liposuction: The Procedure

Many plastic surgeons use a "tumescent technique." After the induction of general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, a large volume, up to several quarts, of very dilute local anesthetic is injected into the areas to be treated. There is a tiny dose of adrenaline in the fluid as well, which makes the blood vessels in the area clamp down. This prevents perhaps 95% of the blood loss that would otherwise occur during liposuction.
Thin hollow stainless steel tubes are placed through short (perhaps 1/4") incisions in the area treated and are used to suction away the appropriate amount of fat. Sheets of lightweight foam are placed on the treated areas, and a compression garment, like a corset, is placed. Bruising is usually scant.
